The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) created the Agroínteinus Registry, to recognize companies and agricultural cooperatives that implement integrity, ethics and transparency practices.
To have their name registered in the database, companies must sign a Term of Commitment to Ethics and Integrity, declaring their willingness to act and contribute to a more healthy, ethical and transparent competitive environment in the private sector and in its relations with the public sector, as well as the demonstration of effective actions in the short and medium term for this purpose.
The regulation of the register was published in the Official Gazette last Tuesday (23). The company or agricultural cooperative interested in being included in the Agroinital Registry must complete and submit electronic application form directly on the official website of the Map, from July 1st.
According to the head of the Special Advisory Of Internal Control of the Map, Cláudio Torquato, the inclusion in the register is the initial step for the company to compete for the More Integrity Seal. "It is a step so that companies and cooperatives with an interest in the integrity agenda, but with a degree of maturity still low, can in the future compete for the Seal", he says, noting that the implementation of the register was made at the request of Minister Tereza Cristina. The companies listed in the register undertake to compete for the More Integrity Seal within two years, under penalty of suspension of the right to appear in the Register.
Companies that wish to be included in the register must have an area responsible for the implementation of the Integrity Program, with assignments established in a formal document of the senior management of the company or cooperative. They must also sign the Business Pact for Integrity and Against Corruption of the Ethos Institute and provide reporting channels on the Internet, with the possibility of filing anonymous complaints.
For the Executive Secretary of the Map, Marcos Montes, the Agro-Healthy Registry further reinforces the growing importance of Brazilian agribusiness. "With this record, we will be able to show our society and the whole world that Brazil, in addition to a great producer, is a country that cares about sustainability and its integrity," he said.
The General Coordination of Integrity of the Special Advisory Board of Internal Control of the Map should promote due diligence with the external and internal control bodies to verify whether there are administrative or judicial processes, positive certificates, complaints or any serious unflavoring news that may cause doubts or questions about the effectiveness of good integrity management practices, ethics, social responsibility and environmental sustainability , including its directors, officers and directors. If this information is found, the company will be notified to provide clarification on the alleged irregularities and the measures taken.
Companies should demonstrate the adoption of corrective measures capable of minimizing any harm caused by employees and managers who commit proven unethical and illegal acts and report to competent authorities the practice of acts of corruption of which they are aware. If the company's involvement in allegations of corruption or human rights or the environment is proven, the company may be removed from the register.
The More Integrity Seal is promoted by the Map since 2018. The objective is to recognize agribusiness companies and cooperatives that adopt integrity practices from the perspective of social responsibility, environmental sustainability, ethics and, also, the commitment to inhibit fraud, bribery and corruption.
