Supercitros Seminar, Yara's initiative free of charge and open to the public, will address
the importance of adequate nutrition and perspectives for culture across the country
Yara, world leader in plant nutrition, promotes this Thursday (2), from 13h, the Seminar Supercitros. The event, which takes place every two years, will have this year the online format due to the coronavirus pandemic. Similar to an interview program, the seminar will be divided into three blocks and each of them will have a researcher and an agronomic specialist, addressing technical and marketing aspects about culture. "Nutrition and Health of citrus plants" will be the opening theme, with the participation of the researcher and director of the Sylvio Moreira Citrus Center (IAC), Dirceu Mattos Junior, and the agronomist Acácio Martins. Together, they will present the importance of balanced nutrition for citrus throughout the country. In the second block, the researcher of the IAC, Rodrigo Marcelli Boaretto, and the agronomist Érico Corneta, will bring studies of the "Physiology and Nutrition of Micronutrients". Both will highlight the various physiological disorders in citrus fruits due to the deficiency of nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus and boron. Finally, the researcher from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA) of the Luiz de Queiroz School of Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (Esalq/USP), Margarete Boteon, and agronomist Flávio Novaes, talk about the "Citrus and Fertilizer Market".
Brazil is a global leader in the production and export of orange, for example, and to maintain this position, the producer needs to continue investing and updating. According to Yara's agronomic specialist, Bruno Dittrich, this is the main objective of the event: to bring quality information to the field. "Like every crop, citrus has its particularities. The use of adequate supplies, for example, has a positive effect on juice yield, increased sugar content and improved flavor", explains the agronomist. Yara has a specific nutritional program for the crop in its portfolio, SuperCitros, which involves all stages of the production process, from soil fertilization to foliar application, improving plant health, fruit quality and, consequently, increasing the longevity of the orchard. "The importance of balanced nutrition helps in building a healthy structure in citrus plants, ensuring that they reach the productive potential, thus ensuring more profitability to the farmer and quality for the final consumer," dittrich concludes.
